Here, she reveals her career highlights and gives us her unique insight into hair trends and haircare advice.
Q: First of all, tell us about the L’Oreal colour trophy – how did you come up with the winning look?
A: Me and Vas both came up with the winning look. We wanted a bespoke, dramatic denim blue colour with a classic blunt cut. It was something that L’Oreal had never seen before and that’s why it won.
Q: On the day itself, how did you stay calm under pressure?
A: I don’t think you ever stay calm, to be honest. It’s how you deal with the pressure and get over it that matters. I remember crying my eyes out in the morning as I wanted it so bad! But once I got the tears out the way it made me much more focused and determined!
Q: What are your tips for how to keep hair healthy when colouring it?
A: I would recommend to make the most of the treatments we have in our salon like Kerastase fusion dose. Then, once you’re at home you should keep it hydrated by using a hair mask that you leave on once a week.
Q: Do certain skin types suit certain hair colours?
A: Yes I believe that cool tones and warm tones always depend on skin tones. Sometimes skin tone changes when you get older so you need to find something that suits your complexion. If you come into the salon, I can assess it and we can work out what will look great on you.
Q: How can someone ensure their colour stays vibrant for as long as possible?
A: If you are going for the likes of red, brunette colours on your hair you will need to get it topped up every 6-8 weeks to keep the vibrancy of the tone! If you are blonde then treatments are the key to keep it looking shiny – eg hair masks and Olaplex.
Q: If someone leads a busy lifestyle and goes to the gym a lot, is there a way they can keep their hair fresh without having to wash it daily?
A: I love dry shampoo. You don’t need to wash your hair every day as hair is supposed to produce natural oils.
Q: What hair trends are you excited to see in 2019?
A: The next hair trend this year I think will be short haircuts. I think people will embrace the pixie cut more and try more dramatic looks.
Q: What looks have you done recently that you’re proud of?
You can see my work on the @SineadKellyLdn Instagram account. The ones credited to @sarabergantini are mine, including:
Q: Where do you find your inspiration?
A: I find my inspiration from social media and from fashion shows and from hair exhibitions. I am organising a trip for the Sinéad Kelly London team to see the Dior exhibition at the V&A, which will hopefully make us feel creative.
Q: What are your goals for 2019?
A: I would like to do the L’Oreal colour trophy again this year. I would also like to do a photo shoot for my own collection.
